(WBBH) – There’s an invasion of iguanas on Florida’s Marco Island.

People who live there said they’ve seen more popping up in recent weeks.

Bob Choate said he sees them in his backyard every day.

“Now there’s just more of them,” Choate said. “The real big ones I have to pick them up by the tail, put them over my fence, and let them go.”

In recent months, the city of Marco Island has enlisted the iguana trapping services of Alfredo Fermin with AAA Wildlife Trapping & Removal Services.

“I have probably over 150 houses that I have to go to and remove iguanas,” Fermin said. “It’s very busy.”

And that list keeps growing.

Fermin warns that the iguanas can also attack.
